As Therapy, Train Crash Survivor Authors First Book of Empowerment Series For Children

 

Valencia, CA - I Will Be A Teacher When I Grow Up is Willa Robinson's first book in her I Will Be series of children's books.  The author startef writing the book after she was injured in the Glendale, California train crash on January 26, 2005.  Eleven people were killed and 180 injured in the horrific train crash.
 

The I Will Be series will inspire and encourage young children to start thinking and dreaming about their future careers at an early age.  Robinson believes when children are able to identify with professionals that look like themselves and possibly come from similar backgrounds, it will help them to make better choices for their future.  I Will Be A Teacher When I Grow Up features four teachers: two active, one retired and the other is a student teacher. 

 

The teachers are illustrated as cartoon-like funny characters and they share their successes and challenges to help children, ages 4-8 to believe in themselves.  Young readers will learn if these teachers with many obstacles and challenges can still do it, so can they. YES THEY CAN!

I Will Be A Teacher When I Grow Up is easy to read, and the book’s colorful pages and illustrations will keep the young reader’s attention.  The book is beautifully illustrated by Mike Miller.

 

Robinson said she wrote in her journal right before the train crash, “today is the first day of the rest of my life.  I will now do what God has purposed me to do.”  The author believed because God spared her life it was time to serve His purpose.   She had longed to write a book but up to that point, had not taken that step. 

 

After an appointment with the Los Angeles Police Department the idea for the I Will Be series was birthed.   She wondered, when the last time was that she’d heard a child say, “I want to be a police officer when I grow up?”  As a result, she began developing the series and writing the first book.

 

The other books of the series are coming soon, I Will Be A Lawyer When I Grow Up, A Doctor, and A Nurse.  The series will continue with other professions and vocations.
